Structural Plate bridges and culverts can be cost effective alternatives to traditional bridge replacements depending on the site.

Costs are drastically cut because local crews generally have the equipment and man power to complete the projects in-house without contracting out specialized equipment or labor.

This proposal was submitted to help reduce flooding by eliminatinga water choke point within a tributary to the Cayadutta Creek in the City of Johnstown. Several structures have been identified by a flood prevention study to be undersized and in poor condition. The most economical solution is to replace these structures with proper sized aluminum arch culverts which can be installed by the City DPW, greatly reducing the cost of each project. With this option we can replace FOUR structures for the same cost as replacing a single bridge.
